Culture on Wheels - ALS Malta

Culture on Wheels

Joe Debono's last wish

The project ‘Culture on Wheels’ aims to facilitate the provision of affordable guided cultural tours specifically tailored for persons who have difficulty with mobility.

This project is the brainchild of Joseph Debono - a well-known figure in the media particularly on television, especially for creating and interpreting the popular character of James Bondin for the television programme Xarabank.

Joseph Debono was diagnosed with ALS in March 2020, but this condition did not deter him from contributing towards the well-being of society. On numerous occasions, Joseph also used the social media to give testimony of his illness, sharing first-hand knowledge about this condition, and at the same time serving as an inspirational figure to help other persons passing through some form of suffering in life.

The project ‘Culture on Wheels’ under the auspices of ALS Malta is a continuation of his work as a licensed tourist guide for four years prior to his diagnosis.
