Robert's Story on Marelli (Saturdays 7:45pm on TVM)
Robert Bugeja, a firefighter known for his dedication, was living an active life until ALS struck, gradually taking away his physical abilities. Despite this, Robert still shows up for work, driven by his unbreakable spirit.
Forced to leave his home because his family could no longer provide the 24-hour care he needs, Robert now lives at DAR Bjorn in Żebbuġ. The move was heartbreaking, especially for his wife, Rita, but necessary. “The separation is cruel,” Robert says, reflecting on how ALS has changed everything.
Yet, Robert’s positivity and determination inspire everyone around him. Every day, his colleagues pick him up so he can still be part of the team. “I still have one finger left to press the spacebar and respond,” he says, symbolizing his fight against ALS.
On September 22nd, Robert will join us for the fundraising telethon. DAR Bjorn provides essential care for people like Robert, but they need your help to continue. Please donate and support this vital project. Your contribution can make all the difference.
